In a rapidly evolving South African society, quality early childhood care is no longer a luxury but a national and family priority. As more parents enter full-time employment, households in suburbs, estates, gated communities, and urban developments are actively seeking trained caregivers who can support children not only safely, but meaningfully.
The Early Childhood Caregiver (ECC) Skills Programme responds directly to this need by equipping learners with foundational, work-ready skills to support the developmental, emotional, nutritional, and safety needs of young children aged 0–5 years. The programme aligns with South Africa’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) Investment Framework, which aims to professionalise the caregiving workforce by 2030.
This course provides an accessible entry point into the ECD sector for first-time learners, community caregivers, and aspiring childcare professionals, while laying a solid foundation for further learning and employment progression.
The programme follows an open-entry approach, ensuring accessibility for learners who may not have completed formal schooling.
